UNAIR NEWS – Currently the industrial revolution 4.0 is the biggest challenge for universities in Indonesia. In order to strengthen networks in the world of business and the world of work, development, synergy and suitability of curricula for higher education are very necessary.
The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Airlangga University (UNAIR) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Saturday, June 19, 2021, to discuss curriculum development based on the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The event was held in a hybrid both via Zoom and offline, at the KRMT Fadjar Notonegoro Hall. The event featured the themes "Industry Forum: Business World - World of Work and Curriculum Development Based on the Industrial Revolution 4.0, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and Independent Learning - Independent Campus (MBKM).
In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia, SE., M.Si., Ak. CMA., CA., emphasized the need for alignment of educational curricula in higher education, particularly for the Faculty of Economics and Business, to align with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and its relevance to the world of work.
"This FGD aims to answer how we can align the education curriculum in higher education," he said.
To align the curriculum with the Industrial Revolution 4.0, students are expected to participate in eight programs offered by the Independent Campus. One of these is an internship or certified work experience.
"We hope that this FDG, along with the stakeholders attending, will provide opportunities such as internships or programs offered by the Independent Campus for FEB students," he said.
"Through the independent campus program, students can gain experience and simultaneously improve their knowledge and skills ," he added.
In this way, the transformation of education in this era through the development of information technology can enable students to become superior graduates in the workforce. "Of course, to align the curriculum, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) itself will soon implement a grand curriculum design that embraces skills alongside knowledge ," he said.
