UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga through the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) received a visit from the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) of the Republic of Indonesia. The visit, which was led directly by KPPU Chair Kurnia Toha, was received directly by UNAIR Chancellor Prof. Nasih with the leadership in the chancellor's room on Friday (17/5).
During the visit, the chairman of the KPPU, who was also accompanied by several staff, explained the various objectives of the visit. One of them is regarding the MoU that will be carried out with FEB UNAIR. Kurnia, his nickname, said that so far the KPPU's performance still needs a lot of improvement. Primarily in institutional branding and functional performance of KPPU as an independent institution.
“Many think we are part of the KPU, even though it is very different. "For this reason, we need to collaborate with universities so that the role and function of KPPU can be better known to the public," he said.
Regarding cooperation focused on economics, the FH UI graduate explained that the institution he leads will add an Economic Directorate. This, he explained, was due to the important role of experts engaged in economic studies to improve the quality of performance within the KPPU.
"For this reason, we are collaborating with FEB so that they can provide input and direction as well as research results to us," he said.
Not only that, continued Kurnia, the role of academics from the economic field is expected to be able to provide many improvements to institutional performance at KPPU. Especially in providing input, direction, and even the best suggestions for the performance of institutions and the government.
"Many of the problems at KPPU are related to issues in the world of economics, for this reason they need research assistance from university academics. "And I hope that in the future there will be comprehensive study results to solve every problem," he explained.
At the end, Kurnia reiterated that in the future collaboration with FEB UNAIR could also be implemented in the form of discussions, seminars or writing books. From the collaboration that existed, Kurnia emphasized that everything was done for the public interest.
"The input and opinions we give to the government are nothing but our efforts to provide a way to provide benefits to the public," he concluded.
