(Inspirational Story) Surabaya - Shafa Nasya Aaqila, student of the Islamic Economic Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB Unair), found her direction and identity not only in the classroom, but also through active experience in campus organizations and committees. He proves that the world of lectures is not solely about pursuing academic values, but also about recognizing the potential and building a more meaningful future.
Find passion from non-academic activities
Shafa admitted that his involvement in Psychotalk Unair and Efestaphoria FEB Airlangga was a turning point in his life's journey as a student. "Psychotalk and Efestaphoria really formed my passion. From there I came to know I was interested in external fields, especially public relations, partnerships, and sponsorship," he said.
Through these activities, Shafa realizes that trying new things is the best way to find true interest. "Sometimes we just realize what we like after trying it. So for friends, especially new students, do not hesitate to get out of the comfort zone. It could be that is the first door to your future," he added.
Lecturers who guide with empathy
Not only from the organization, Shafa also gained valuable experience through positive relationships with FEB Unair lecturers. business introduction courses became an experience that made an impression thanks to an open and supportive lecturer approach. "The lecturers are pleasing to be invited to discuss, not judging, instead directing well. That makes me more confident to express opinions," he recalled.
This experience continues until the final stage of his studies, including when writing a thesis. "The lecturers here are always ready to be the front guard in assisting students to choose research topics. Starting from zero to the trial, we are directed patiently and wisely," he explained.
Shafa also conveyed a warm message for other students: "Don't be afraid to discuss with lecturers. They are not only teachers, but also supervisors, supporters, and our learning partners."
Message for new students: Find your own rhythm
Based on his experience, Shafa gave a reflective message for new students: "In the era of social media, it's really easy to feel left behind. But remember, focusing on one's own journey is far more important than comparing yourself with others. Recognize your interest first. It's okay if you haven't joined the organization or internship. All have time. All feelings that arise valid-and are human."
He stressed the importance of a gradual process and not in a hurry in finding the direction of life: "Learning slowly is no problem. From there we can determine the direction to be aimed at."
For final year students, Shafa also advised to continue to be persistent in order to complete studies on time.
Campus with a positive environment
Shafa also felt fortunate to be in the FEB Airlangga neighborhood that supported the growth and development of students holistically. "The atmosphere of the campus is exciting. The people are humble and friendly. A healthy environment is very influential in our development, both academically and non-academically."
With a combination of environmental support, inspirational lecturers, and enthusiasm to continue to develop, Shafa is now increasingly ready to move towards the professional world.
