The Dean of FEB UNAIR Emphasizes the Use of Information System Technology in Academics
UNAIR NEWS – Towards the end of 2020, the Chancellor of Universitas Airlangga again inaugurated a new leader at the faculty level by inaugurating a new dean. Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia SE., M.Si., Ak. officially inaugurated as dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) 2020-2025.
Prof. Dian said that the Covid-19 pandemic was the trigger for major changes that occurred in the world. This causes all sectors to be affected and affected, including the education sector in higher education. Since March 2020, universities, especially in FEB UNAIR, have been directly affected by the pandemic.
“Higher education must make adjustments to all activities in universities. The teaching and learning process must continue even though it is done online,” he said.
To anticipate the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all learning at FEB UNAIR is carried out online by implementing the system e-learning. This is also in accordance with the direction of the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia.
"Because in this odd semester all learning systems are done online, all academics at FEB UNAIR must make changes," he said.
In terms of education staff, FEB UNAIR has improved the ability of education staff by implementing or implementing information system technology. Thus, the online learning process at FEB UNAIR can be supported by education staff who have started to apply information technology
“Students cannot stop teaching and learning activities at FEB UNAIR. Apart from studying, they also have to carry out student activities,” he added.
For student activities, FEB UNAIR has provided supporting facilities by providing online media facilities. The facilities are prepared from the institution for the effectiveness of student implementation.
"For lecturers, the effectiveness of implementation" e-learning will also be upgraded to run properly. Hopefully in the next semester we can further increase the effectiveness of the implementation of this e-learning, "he explained.
In order to realize a Smart university in the field of education, the first thing that FEB UNAIR does is to improve smart education for millennial people. With the industrial revolution and the changes caused by the pandemic, the skills needed for the future are changing too. College graduates are expected to have the ability to solve problems.
In addition, college graduates must also have social skills and process skills. Social skills relate to how graduates are able to negotiate, communicate and coordinate in the world of work needed. Whereas process skills relates to the thoughts of graduates to contribute to the real world.
Furthermore, Prof. Dian explained that nowadays, literacy related to human and computer technology is very much needed. This causes universities to also begin to change the reorientation of the curriculum.
“College curricula must adapt to the demands of a changing environment. FEB UNAIR will hold a curriculum reorientation. The effectiveness of e-learning will also be increased," he concluded. (*)
