Qualitative Research Methods Workshop at UNITOMO

Qualitative Research Methods Workshop at UNITOMO

Supervisors need to have adequate insight into various existing research methods to assist students in their research. Students often come with research problems that require guidance on the appropriate methods to address.

On Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Dr. Gancar C. Premananto, Head of MM FEB Universitas Airlangga , was asked to share his insights with lecturers at Unitomo Surabaya regarding qualitative research methods. The lively workshop discussed the joys of conducting qualitative research. Researchers must strive to become one with their research subjects.

At the event, Gancar presented material on spirituality in conducting research. Gancar also stated that qualitative research has been conducted since 600 AD, during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the Caliphate, to gain new knowledge and implement public policy.
It was also discussed that research conducted by MM Unair students mostly uses an applied research approach with qualitative methods.

Sharing insights with other universities is nothing new. Previously, several other universities, such as UWM and UNESA, have invited participants for both qualitative and experimental research methods.
