(BEM NEWS) Surabaya, Monday, September 22, 2025 – A total of 60 students from SMA 5 Balikpapan participated in a “Welcome Visit” activity to the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga. The activity, which took place at 09.00 WIB in Room 205 FEB UNAIR, was attended enthusiastically by students and accompanying teachers. This program served as a forum for introducing the higher education environment while providing a real picture of the academic world at FEB UNAIR.
The event began with remarks from the school, represented by Wiwiet Widyatie, M.Pd., Deputy Head of Public Relations of SMA 5 Balikpapan. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation to FEB UNAIR for the opportunity to conduct this visit. She hoped that the students would use this opportunity to broaden their horizons, expand their knowledge, and motivate themselves to pursue higher education in the future.
The event continued with a presentation on the faculty profile by Muhammad Syaikh Rohman, SE., M.Ec., a staff member of the Vice Dean I of FEB UNAIR. He explained the vision, mission, and achievements of FEB UNAIR, both nationally and internationally. The presentation also covered the academic opportunities available to students, including campus facilities, student exchange programs, and student organization activities.
The next session introduced the study programs within FEB UNAIR. Dr. Dina Fitrisia Septiarini, SE, MM, Ak., a lecturer in the Islamic Economics Undergraduate Program, presented material on the profile, curriculum, and advantages of the Islamic Economics Undergraduate Program. She also outlined various career prospects for graduates, ranging from academia to the Islamic financial sector.
Next, Ms. Damara Ardelia Kusuma Wardani, SA, MA, a lecturer in the Undergraduate Accounting Study Program, presented the study program. She explained the focus of accounting studies at FEB UNAIR, the various concentrations students can choose from, and the opportunities for self-development through international certification and accounting competitions. This material provided students with a comprehensive overview of the relevance of accounting studies to the needs of the global workforce.
Throughout the series of events, the students of SMA 5 Balikpapan gained new insights into campus life, study options, and the skills necessary to prepare for higher education. Their enthusiasm was evident in their participation, listening to the speakers' explanations and taking notes on key points to prepare them for their academic future.
The welcome visit from SMA 5 Balikpapan to FEB UNAIR had a positive impact. After the presentation session, the event concluded with a campus tour of FEB UNAIR. During this activity, students were taken on a tour of the campus facilities, classrooms, and academic atmosphere, allowing them to experience real-life student life at FEB UNAIR.
