UNAIR MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT PARTNERS WITH ALUMNI TO DISCUSS DIGITAL FINANCIAL TRANSFORMATION

The Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga held a guest lecture for students in the Business Transformation in Digital (BTD) course on Friday, November 28, 2025. This activity featured Caesar Bimaprawira, Deputy Director of Supervisory Quality Assurance for Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Caesar is an alumnus of the Financial Management concentration of FEB UNAIR class of 2005 who now plays a role in overseeing digital innovation in the national financial sector.

In his presentation, "From Traditional Finance to Digital Ecosystem: Opportunities, Risks, and Regulatory Readiness," Caesar outlined the financial industry's rapid transition toward an integrated digital ecosystem. This transformation is evident in the widespread use of financial technology, open banking, crypto assets, and the use of artificial intelligence in financial services. He noted that these innovations can drive efficiency and expand public access to services, but they also pose challenges such as operational risks, cybersecurity, and the potential for misuse of the technology.

"Regulatory readiness is key. The government must be present to support innovation, but also ensure stability and consumer protection," he said in a presentation session, which was enthusiastically received by students. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties, including regulators, industry players, academics, and the public, to jointly create a healthy and sustainable digital ecosystem.

The discussion session, moderated by the lecturer in charge of the course, Dr. Puput Tri Komalasari, provided a space for students to explore current issues, such as the implications of blockchain in payment systems, the banking industry's readiness to face fintech disruption, and career opportunities in the field of risk & regulatory technology.

This guest lecture is intended to strengthen the relationship between the Department of Management and its alumni who have worked in strategic national and international sectors. This collaboration is expected to create opportunities for professional networking and enhance the curriculum's relevance to the needs of the workplace.

In addition to broadening our knowledge, this guest lecture also reflects the Department of Management's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Increasing financial inclusion and literacy contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing competent talent to embrace the digital economy. With learning programs closely aligned with industry practices, FEB UNAIR continues to strive to produce graduates who are adaptable, possess integrity, and are ready to contribute to the inclusive and sustainable digital transformation of Indonesian finance.
