Surabaya, Monday, August 11, 2025 – The POTRET Team of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) has once again made an inspiring contribution through a community service program in collaboration with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU). The program, which ran from June 10 to August 8, 2025, combined education for high school students and mentoring for MSMEs, with the aim of improving the quality of education while strengthening the competitiveness of local businesses.
This program is driven by the POTRET Team consisting of Azza, Salwa, Minggar, Tessa, and Shalum, students of the 2023 Undergraduate Management Study Program. Under the guidance of Mr. Zainul Musthofa, SM, MBA, this team carries out two main missions: introducing Universitas Airlangga, especially FEB UNAIR, in schools in Gresik Regency, and providing practical training to MSMEs in Surabaya.
In the education sector, the POTRET Team held outreach programs at SMAN 1 Manyar and SMAN 1 Cerme. Students received information about Airlangga University's admission pathways, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) profile, career prospects, and tips for achieving success in college. Their enthusiasm was evident in the numerous questions they received, particularly regarding scholarships and selection strategies. This program provided new motivation for students to dare to dream of higher education.
Meanwhile, in the economic empowerment sector, the POTRET Team provided assistance to fifteen fostered MSME partners, including: Affan Crispy, Tahu Bakso Pak Ami, Roti Panas TOTITU, Kedai Mielioder, Minuman Herbal Haray, Dhona Dhani, Nasi Cokot Family, Servis Helm Pak Wiji, Telerin Aja, Dapur Mazara, Batagor Kalidami, Hi Orange, Kebaba Raza, Kerupuk Ikan Patin, and Gallery Griya Aryani.
The training provided covered various important aspects, from creating QRIS for digital transactions, enhancing product photography, listing businesses on Google Maps, promoting social media, and registering food delivery services through GoFood and GrabFood. The KPPU also provided an understanding of business ethics and fair competition, ensuring business actors not only develop technologically but also understand the importance of conducting business fairly.
The success of this program is evident in tangible changes on the ground. MSMEs now appear more professional, have access to digital payments, and are more accessible to consumers. Meanwhile, students who participated in the outreach program are increasingly enthusiastic about pursuing higher education, making Universitas Airlangga one of their primary destinations.
Through this activity, the Unair FEB POTRET Team demonstrated that community service can bridge education, the economy, and regional progress. It's a simple initiative that can have a significant impact on the future of the younger generation and local MSMEs.
