The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB Unair) held a guest lecture on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the FEB Unair Tower Hall. The guest lecture took the theme "Current Situation of the Employment Sector in Indonesia" and was free for students and the general public. The speaker was the Head of the Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat) of BPS RI, Dr. Razali Ritonga, MA, who has expertise in the field of employment.
The event began with the solemn singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, by all participants. The event continued with remarks by the Coordinator of the Master of Economics Study Program, FEB Unair, Dr. Wisnu Wibowo, SE, M.Si. In his remarks, Wisnu stated that the collaboration between BPS and Unair needs to be strengthened and expressed his hope that BPS could host more guest lectures in the future, covering a variety of interesting and relevant topics.
Moderated by Rumayya Batubara, Ph.D., Razali presented various recent data on the labor sector in Indonesia. Razali also highlighted several interesting phenomena in the Indonesian labor sector, particularly those related to wages, unemployment, and gender. Unsurprisingly, when the question-and-answer session began, participants eagerly raised their hands to ask questions. Several participants even asked Razali questions after the event concluded.
At the end of the event, Rumayya, represented by FEB Unair, presented Razali with a souvenir and posed for a group photo. The event was attended by 102 participants, both internal and external. It ran smoothly and was a success. (adle)
