PIH UNAIR – Universitas Airlangga is in mourning again. This time, UNAIR lost its best son on Thursday evening, April 30, 2020. Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni, who breathed his last at 5:50 PM in the ICU of Darmo Hospital, Surabaya.
The figure who is also currently serving as the General Chairperson of PP IKA UA for the 2017-2021 period is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics class of 1972. He also served as Chairperson of IKAFE UA for the 2007-2012 period and Chairperson I of PP IKA UA for 2012-2017.
Quoting a statement he made in his book Jejak Alumni UNAIR, Haryanto Basoeni is a very humble person. He never talks about his success in building his business. He also emphasized that his achievements are not comparable to those of many other entrepreneurs. According to him, in running his business, he relies solely on sincerity, honesty, and sharing with others in need.
The man, born in Gresik on December 5, 1952, is also a UNAIR alumnus who initiated and was one of the main donors for the establishment of the Ulul Azmi Mosque on Campus C, UNAIR. Quoting a statement made at the launch of the Ulul Azmi Mosque on Campus C, UNAIR, he emphasized that true wealth is wealth used for charity in the path of Allah SWT.
His contributions have been truly felt at UNAIR, particularly in organizing and uniting UNAIR alumni from various regions across Indonesia. One example is the Ulul Azmi Mosque on Campus C, which was built entirely thanks to the strong support of UNAIR alumni.
Regarding his extraordinary role throughout his life, UNAIR Rector Prof. Nasih, on a separate occasion, stated that Haryanto Basoeni's contributions and strong commitment to working with UNAIR's top management have brought UNAIR on par with UI, ITB, and UGM, particularly in the area of alumni.
