(FEB NEWS) Pontianak, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 – The Indonesian Management Doctoral Program Alliance (APDMI) chaired by Prof. Dr. Tanti Handriana SE., MSi., once again demonstrated its role in the national and international arena by holding a series of academic and community service activities that took place on September 23–26, 2025, located at Tanjungpura University, Pontianak and Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. APDMI, whose members are Heads of Doctoral Program Study Programs from all regions in Indonesia, in this activity is committed to strengthening research networks in the field of management, and also becoming a bridge to strengthen academic and social relations between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Day One: A Local Touch for MSMEs
The series of activities began on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with a community service event at the West Kalimantan Provincial Crafts Council (Dekranasda). Participants had the opportunity to directly observe efforts to develop local crafts and regional cultural heritage. During the event, the APDMI team provided material on business sustainability strategies for MSMEs, particularly in facing increasingly competitive market challenges. The presence of academics provided a breath of fresh air for small business owners to continue growing by broadening their knowledge of management and innovation.
Day Two: International Seminar at Tanjungpura University
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the event moved to Tanjungpura University, Pontianak. Starting at 8:00 a.m., an international seminar was held, featuring speakers from various universities, including Korea, Vietnam, Australia, and Malaysia. The event opened with remarks from Prof. Dr. Tanti Handriana, Chair of APDMI.
This seminar served as a forum for scientific discussion on trends in the use of AI and digital technology in current research in the field of sustainable development management and strategy. Following the break, the event continued with the National Colloquium, a forum for doctoral students to provide input and discuss their research and dissertation ideas.
Days Three and Four: Following the Trail of Collaboration in Kuching
On the third and fourth days, the group of participants departed for Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, to continue their program at I-CATS University College. The campus hosted various workshops and academic discussions, focusing on innovation in learning systems, research, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education.
In addition to academic forums, APDMI also held international community service programs in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kuching. These activities targeted Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in Sarawak, providing motivational materials and financial management training. The hope is that these TKI will not only improve their own well-being but also contribute to their families and communities back home.
Day Five: Reinforcing Collaboration Commitments
The series of activities concluded with a reflective dialogue that emphasized the importance of international networks in the development of management science. Through collaboration with universities abroad, APDMI hopes that research and education in Indonesia will become increasingly competitive on a global scale.
Strengthening Indonesia–Malaysia Relations
The 2025 APDMI event is not just an academic event, but also a symbol of friendship between Indonesia and Malaysia. The presence of academics from across the country strengthens the spirit of collaboration, while the cross-border community service program emphasizes the commitment to strengthening human resources everywhere.
With this series of activities, APDMI affirms its commitment to fostering innovation, research collaboration, and community empowerment at the international level. It is hoped that similar activities will continue and inspire other educational institutions to expand their academic contributions, both domestically and internationally.
