Surabaya, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 – Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) in collaboration with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) Regional Office IV implemented the Community Service Program (PENGMAS) PEDULI UMK at the Dharmahusada Culinary Tourism Center (SWK) and socialization promotion regarding FEB UNAIR at PPTP Darul Quran Mojokerto carried out by the Surabaya UMK One Roof Team. This program runs from July to August 2025, with a focus on improving facilities, environmental management, business promotion, and introducing FEB UNAIR to the High School level.
Facility Improvements to Enhance Visitor Comfort:
One of the program's key highlights was the addition of facilities at SWK Dharmahusada. The implementation team replaced and added a previously damaged fan, provided new tablecloths to create a clean and aesthetic atmosphere, installed standing acrylic table numbers, and updated the main banner. These steps are expected to improve visitor comfort while improving the culinary district's image.
Indonesian Independence Day Decorations Create a Festive Atmosphere
To celebrate the 80th Indonesian Independence Day, the One-Stop Community Service (Pengmas Satu Atap) team from UMK Surabaya also decorated the SWK area in red and white. Flags, decorative lights, and independence-themed ornaments created a more lively atmosphere, especially at night. This not only added aesthetic value but also attracted more visitors to come and enjoy local cuisine.
Visual Promotion Through Logos and Brochures
To support the marketing strategy of MSEs, the team designed a new official logo for SWK Dharmahusada, combining culinary identity and the unique characteristics of Surabaya. Additionally, a promotional brochure containing a list of tenants and signature menu items was created to be entered in a competition at GRANDCITY Surabaya on August 13th. This visual promotion is expected to expand market reach and increase MSE competitiveness.
Education on Entrance Pathways and FEB UNAIR in High Schools:
Not only focusing on SWK, this program also reaches the younger generation through outreach at the PPTP Darul Quran Mojokerto. Using an interactive approach, students are educated about UNAIR, FEB UNAIR, and the various entrance pathways, thereby creating opportunities for students to pursue an education in economics. The participants' enthusiasm was evident in their active participation in discussions and Q&A sessions.
The success of this program is inseparable from the support of various parties. The SWK Dharmahusada management provided access and facilities, the Surabaya City Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Trade Office facilitated coordination, and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR provided guidance. This synergy demonstrates that cross-institutional collaboration can have a tangible positive impact on the community.
Through this program, MSEs receive better facilities, culinary areas become more attractive, and the younger generation is equipped with entrepreneurial skills. Although local in scale, this initiative is expected to have a sustainable impact, both in increasing MSE turnover and in building a healthy and competitive business ecosystem.
