
FEB UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA AND BPKH STRENGTHEN SYNERGY IN THE SOCIALIZATION OF HAJJ FINANCE AND ZISWAF BENEFITS
(FEB NEWS) Surabaya, May 20, 2024 — The Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), specifically the Department of Sharia Economics, in collaboration with the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), held a National Seminar with the main theme "Inheritance and Hajj from a Financial Management Perspective." This seminar is a concrete step in strengthening the role of BPKH in collaboration with Bank Muamalat to improve public welfare through cross-sector synergy.
The event was opened by Dr. Bayu Arie Fianto, Coordinator of the Islamic Economics Undergraduate Program at FEB UNAIR, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities, the government, and the Islamic financial sector in strengthening the economic ecosystem in Indonesia.
BPKH was represented by the Head of the Strategic Programs and Welfare Division, Mr. Fani Sulfandi, who outlined the mandate for managing the Hajj Endowment Fund, focusing on promoting effective and sustainable Hajj fund management. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the governance of partner institutions to ensure optimal program implementation.
In this seminar, the Head of the Welfare Division of Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM), Mr. Jahidin, shared his experiences regarding the challenges and practices of implementing ZISWAF-based welfare programs as well as strategies for empowering mustahik to become active muzakki.
Bank Muamalat Regional Head East Java Bali Nusra, Mr. Wisnu Satria Bharata, gave a presentation on the support of Islamic financial institutions through banking product innovation, cash waqf services, and digitalization that facilitates the management of ZISWAF and the distribution of Islamic financial products in Indonesia.
The seminar ended with a presentation by Dr. Sulistya Rusgianto, Secretary of the Department of Sharia Economics, FEB UNAIR, who highlighted the importance of family financial management based on sharia principles as the foundation for the economic resilience of the community.
This event strengthens the synergy between academics, regulators, and practitioners in creating transparent, accountable, and broad-impact governance of public funds in line with sustainable development goals.
