On Saturday, February 4, 2017, the National Economic and Industrial Committee (KEIN) in collaboration with Universitas Airlangga held a Seminar and Focus Group Discussion on the roadmap of five national industries, namely the maritime industry, tourism industry, agro industry, creative/digital industry and manufacturing industry. The event was held at the Wyndham Hotel (formerly known as the Pullman Hotel) Jl. Basuki Rahmat, Surabaya.
Present at the event were, among others, the Chairman of KEIN, Mr. Sutrisno Bachir, SE, the Rector Universitas Airlangga , Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., the Head of the Department of Industry and Trade (representing the Governor) of East Java, Dr. Ir. Moch Ardi Prasetiawan, M.Eng.Sc, ME., the Deputy for Restructuring and Business Development (representing the minister) of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Dr. Aloysius K. Ro, MBA, Ak., Ir. Director General of Strengthening Product Competitiveness (representing the Minister) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, R. Nilanto Perbowo, M.Sc,.
The seminar consisted of three series of events, namely the opening, keynote speech and discussion. The opening ceremony began with remarks from the Rector of Universitas Airlangga , then continued with remarks from the Chairman of KEIN, and closed with the third remarks by the Chairman of the East Java Department of Industry and Trade. The keynote speech was delivered by two speakers from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.
At the end of the opening session, the Rector Universitas Airlangga handed over the book "Airlangga Innovation" to KEIN, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and the East Java Provincial Government. The book is Unair's contribution to the development of national industry. There are three focuses of the book, namely the health industry (medicine, pharmacy and medical technology), the marine and fisheries industry and the livestock and animal husbandry industry. The last two industries are focused on strengthening food independence. Each section of the book discusses three things, namely the existing conditions, strategies and best practices (innovation and discovery) of the Unair academic community.
The discussion was delivered by KEIN Member, Mr. Ir. Benny Pasaribu, Ph.D. and Lecturer/Researcher of FEB Unair, Mr. Drs. Ec. Bambang Eko Afiatno, SE. Mr. Benny delivered material on the competitiveness of Indonesian industry along with its improvement strategies. Mr. Bambang gave a speech on the condition of the manufacturing industry consisting of Micro, Small, Medium and Large Enterprises in East Java as a buffer zone for national industry, especially in eastern Indonesia.
Seminar participants from KEIN included the deputy chairman of KEIN, Arif Budimanta, and other KEIN members such as, Hendri Saparini, M. Najikh, M. Fadhil Hasan, and Irfan Wahid. From the leadership of Universitas Airlangga there were Vice Rector 1, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., PhD., Sp.PD, K-GH, FINASIM, Vice Rector 3 Prof. Moch. Amin Alamsyah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D and Secretary of the University, Koko Srimulyo, Drs., M.Si., Director of Finance, Dr. Ardianto, SE., M.Si., Ak and Director of Human Resources, Dr. Purnawan Basundoro, SS, M.Hum.
After the seminar and break, participants were divided into 5 small focus group discussions (FGDs), which were categorized based on KEIN's chosen focus industries, namely maritime, agro, tourism, creative/digital and manufacturing. In each FGD, three speakers were presented as trigger speakers, namely two from academics and one from practitioners/professionals. The rest were active participants who came from various institutional backgrounds.
The speakers for the Maritime FGD were Denny Kusumawardani, M.Si (Unair), Tri Achmadi, Ph.D (ITS) and Dr. Faruq (Pelindo 3). The speakers for the Agro FGD were Tri Haryanto, Ph.D (Unair), Prof. Nuhfil Hanani (Unibraw) and Dr. Triantarti (P3GI). The speakers for the Tourism FGD were Dr. Ari Prasetyo (Unair), Dr. The speakers for the Creative/Digital FGD were Prof. Bambang Tjahjadi (Unair), Dias Satria, Ph.D. (Unibraw), Nanik Sriwahyuningsih, MPA (Activist) and Gregorius, M.Sc. (Practitioner). The speakers for the Manufacturing FGD were Dyah Wulansari, Ph.D. (Unair), Dwi Budi Santoso, Ph.D. (Unibraw) and Philips Permono (GPFI).
The participants came from various backgrounds, ranging from universities, research institutions, East Java Provincial Government SKPDs, professional organizations (ISEI, APPINDO, etc.), KADIN, Unair lecturers and researchers, master's and doctoral students, mass media, and individuals from industry-related institutions. The event, which started at 9:00 and ended at 17:00, ran smoothly and enthusiastically, both from the speakers and participants (AJ)
