(FEB NEWS) Yesterday (18/05/2023), the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga , in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), held a lecture session delivered by Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si – Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development Universitas Airlangga, with Mr. Novrys Suhardianto, SE., MSA., Ak., Ph.D., CA. as moderator. In the lecture session, Prof. Nyoman presented interactive learning with the theme “Roles of Academic and Education Community in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
To create an interactive atmosphere, Prof. Nyoman opened the session by asking NUS students about their views on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After one audience member shared their concerns, Prof. Nyoman enthusiastically applauded and explained the matter in more detail.
Surprisingly, Prof. Nyoman then stated that there will be a transition from the SDGs, because all countries have understood and are estimated to achieve the 17 goals by 2030, to the world megatrend phase that will take place in 2030-2045, coinciding with Indonesia's Golden Age. He also touched on the need for support for the circular economy in welcoming this phase, namely the principle of a sustainable zero-waste based economy. Prof. Nyoman also strongly emphasized that in achieving this, the contribution of young people as agents of change is very necessary, so that the character quality of young people must be qualified.

At the end of the presentation session, Prof. Nyoman also expressed a commitment to improving the performance of research and community service from Universitas Airlangga to the entire community, both local and international, as well as other achievements that can accelerate the realization of the SDGs.
The lecture session, held with 34 NUS students, also supported the achievement of SDG 17, Partnership for the Goals, by accommodating cross-sectoral dialogue with interactive discussions on SDG topics from diverse societal perspectives. Through this activity, it is hoped that both universities will gain broader insights into the role of education in achieving the SDGs and can collaborate more closely in the future.
