This activity was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Rudi Purwono, SE., M.SE., who in his remarks emphasized the importance of the role of academics in producing evidence-based research (evidence-based policy) to support inclusive, adaptive, and gender-equitable national policies.
After the opening, the activity continued with an opening speech by Mr. Ramot Aritonang from DFAT Indonesia, who highlighted the relevance of this research result to DFAT's Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) framework and its integration with Indonesia's Blue Economy priorities in the 2025–2029 RPJMN.
Next, Ms. Shinta Dewi from the INKLUSI Indonesia Program delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of cross-stakeholder collaboration—government, academia, and civil society—in strengthening evidence-based policies and mainstreaming gender equality in coastal communities.
This event is a follow-up to a national study of 1,000 women in the fisheries sector in four regions of Indonesia—Pangandaran, Kupang, West Muna, and Mempawah—which aims to strengthen evidence-based policies to encourage the empowerment of resilient and socially just coastal women.

This dissemination session was attended by approximately 30 participants from government, donors, CSOs, and academics, both on-site and online. Through this forum, participants discussed national empirical findings, developed a cross-institutional Matrix of Alignment, and formulated a collaborative action plan to strengthen gender-responsive and evidence-based policies in the fisheries sector.
