February Unair 1(FEB NEWS) Friday, March 7, 2025 – The Accounting Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) once again held the CEO Teaching program, presenting M. Noor Nugroho, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for East Java Province, as the main speaker. The event, which took place in the Soepoyo Hall, 3rd Floor of FEB UNAIR, provided in-depth insights into the principles and implementation of Bank Indonesia (BI) governance in supporting national economic stability.

The event was opened by Dina Indriana, SA, MA, as moderator, who introduced the speakers and emphasized the importance of understanding central bank governance for students. Also present were Dr. Wisnu Wibowo, Vice Dean I of FEB UNAIR, and Yani Permatasari, S.Ak., MBA., Secretary of the FEB UNAIR Undergraduate Accounting Program, who welcomed the opportunity as a form of direct learning from practitioners.

Bank Indonesia's Strategic Role in Economic Stability

In the presentation session, M. Noor Nugroho explained comprehensively about Bank Indonesia's institutions, structural changes after the P2SK Law, and the governance principles applied by BI.

He emphasized that many people still misunderstand Bank Indonesia's role as a financial institution. "Often, when I introduce myself as part of BI, the question that arises is whether we can provide credit. However, Bank Indonesia is different from commercial banks," he said.

Feb Unair 1aAs a central bank, BI has the following main mandates:
1. Maintaining the stability of the rupiah through sustainable monetary policy,
2. Regulating and maintaining the smooth operation of the payment system, including digital transformation in the financial sector,
3. Supervising the financial system in a macroprudential manner, to prevent systemic risks in banking.

Furthermore, M. Noor also explained how Law No. 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law) strengthens BI's role in maintaining economic stability by increasing institutional accountability and transparency.

Accountability and Transparency: The Main Pillars of BI Governance

Accountability and transparency are crucial aspects of Bank Indonesia's governance. M. Noor emphasized that BI regularly reports to the House of Representatives (DPR), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), and the public to ensure that implemented policies are implemented effectively and in accordance with the principles of good governance (independence, consistency, coordination, accountability, and transparency).

"For the past 21 years, BI's financial reports have consistently received an unqualified opinion (WTP). This is evidence of excellent and consistent governance at BI," said M. Noor.

This CEO Teaching activity is a valuable learning opportunity for students, especially in understanding how good governance contributes to national economic stability.

The event closed with a group photo session and the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers, marking the success of the implementation of CEO Mengajar FEB UNAIR this time.

This event will provide valuable insights for Universitas Airlanggaundergraduate Accounting students, particularly those taking the Role of Accounting in Corporate Governance course and PPAk students. It is hoped that this CEO Teaching event will enrich their understanding of how Bank Indonesia's policies and management contribute to the country's economic stability and positively impact Indonesia's financial sector.

It is hoped that this seminar will open up opportunities for further collaboration that will be beneficial for the development of knowledge in the fields of accounting, economics, and financial institution governance, while strengthening the relationship between the academic world and practitioners in maintaining the stability of the Indonesian economy
