(FEB NEWS) The dynamic socio-economic conditions of society at the national and global levels present an urgent need for academics to be able to apply design thinking.

This provision is needed by lecturers in learning and graduate students who will enter the world of work, to be able to continue to think creatively and innovatively in solving problems in various fields.

In response to this need, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), through the Department of Islamic Economics, held a Guest Lecture with Mr. M. Adhika, an alumnus of FEB Universitas Airlangga and HR manager at PT. Perum Peruri, as the resource person. The event was held in the Tirtodiningrat Hall, 2nd Floor, FEB UNAIR, on January 24, 2025.

Design thinking skills, encompassing empathy, definition, ideation, and prototyping, are essential in every industry. Concepts complemented by problem-solving simulations are effective in delivering design thinking lessons.

Mr. Adhika invited young lecturers and students to internalize the concept of design thinking and apply it in learning and daily life.

So that later when needed, design thinking skills become a reflex, so that we can automatically carry out problem solving for the obstacles faced in the agency where we work or when dealing with the community.

This training provides significant benefits to the academic community, particularly in enhancing critical, creative, and innovative thinking skills. Its impact is felt not only in classroom learning but also in preparing lecturers and students to face real-world challenges in the workplace. By mastering design thinking, the academic community can be more adaptive in creating relevant and applicable solutions in various fields, supporting the development of superior and competitive graduates at the national and global levels.
