(FEB NEWS) Surabaya, Tuesday 16 September 2025 – The Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, successfully held a Guest Lecture entitled “From Ideas to Topics: Selecting and Designing Your Graduation Research Project” on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Miendrowo Hall, 4th Floor of the Main Building, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya.

The event was officially opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Rossanto Dwi Handoyo, SE, M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga.

The lecture was delivered by Prof. JC Maswana, Professor of Economics at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, and moderated by Magdalena Triasih Dumauli, SE, M.Ec., Ph.D. The session was attended by students and faculty members of FEB Universitas Airlangga.

In his presentation, Prof. Maswana introduced a comprehensive framework for transforming initial ideas into structured and feasible research topics. He elaborated on strategies for formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, and selecting appropriate methodological approaches. The moderator further enriched the discussion by sharing practical insights tailored to the local academic context, providing students with concrete guidance in navigating their research journey.

The guest lecture highlighted the importance of strong research design as a foundation for academic achievement. For participants, the session was both insightful and practical, strengthening their readiness to develop and execute their own graduation research projects.
