Encouraging the strengthening of the people's economy and the adaptation of business actors in the digital era, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) together with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) once again presents the program "Impact Campus: Students Care for MSMEs Vol. 2". This initiative provides a platform for students to directly assist MSMEs in their hometowns, combining economic empowerment, digitalization education, and an understanding of the principles of fair business competition. One of the program participants, Jessica Lioni, a student of the Accounting Study Program class of 2023, carried out mentoring in the city of Surabaya from July 4 to early August 2025, focusing on six local MSMEs in need of increased digital capacity and market access.
Jessica and Ezra began the activity by establishing communication and building trust with business owners. Their efforts paid off: six MSMEs agreed to join: Geprek Genyol, Geprek Dharmahusada, Pop Ice Family, Seblak Ning Ais, JoyMart Palma, and Lumpia CikWan. Among them, Geprek Dharmahusada expressed a desire to market its products on GoFood and GrabFood, but was still hampered by the technical aspects of registration. Meanwhile, the other five MSMEs needed assistance creating QRIS to accept cashless payments.
Responding to this challenge, Jessica took a full role in guiding the GoFood and GrabFood partner registration process. She covered every step, from installing the merchant app, entering menu data, determining pricing, setting operating hours, and ensuring the account was ready for use. This process was complemented by training for business owners so they could manage their accounts independently, without relying on external parties.
To create the QRIS, Jessica helped prepare documents according to bank requirements, such as an ID card, a photo of the business location, revenue data, and the owner's signature. Once the QRIS was processed, she returned to each MSME to hand over the laminated copies and provided guidance on monitoring transactions through the mobile banking app.
Not only focusing on MSMEs, Jessica also took part in the agenda of socializing healthy business competition as well as promoting FEB UNAIR. She was trusted to deliver material in class 12 I, SMAK Kolese Santo Yusuf Malang, Jl. Simpang Borobudur No.1, Malang. This session lasted for 45 minutes during the Counseling Guidance hour, discussing business competition regulations, tips for doing business in the digital era, and the advantages of FEB UNAIR as an educational institution that encourages collaboration, innovation, and the work readiness of its graduates.
To conclude the program, Jessica delivered a brief presentation on healthy business competition to the MSMEs, followed by a question-and-answer session. The moment was captured in a group photo as a memento and official documentation of the event.
For Jessica, this program has strong personal value. Many of the MSMEs she assists are managed by a generation unfamiliar with technology, and seeing them become accustomed to digital platforms is a significant achievement. This activity also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
● SDG 1 – Poverty alleviation, by opening new income opportunities through digital platforms.
● SDG 4 – Quality education, through education on fair business competition.
● SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth, by integrating online and offline business models.
● SDG 17 – Partnerships to achieve the goals, through synergy between MSMEs, digital platforms, and financial institutions.
Jessica hopes that the "Impact Campus: Students Care for MSMEs" program can continue annually, so that more MSMEs in Indonesia can survive, grow, and compete healthily amidst the challenges of the digital economy.
