Surabaya, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 – In order to fill their free time during the even semester break leading up to the odd semester, three students of the Accounting Undergraduate Program, class of 2023, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) — Ezra Sijoatmodjo (143231093), Olive Budiman Surjadi (143231085), and Jessica Lioni (143231107) — participated in the community service activity Peduli UMK Volume 2. This program was organized by FEB UNAIR in collaboration with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU).
This activity aims to empower MSMEs in the hometowns of UNAIR FEB students so they can maintain their existence and compete with larger businesses. Ezra and Jessica conducted the mentoring in Surabaya, while Olive was in Malang.
In the initial stage, Ezra led the process of finding MSMEs willing to be assisted. On July 4, 2025, he and Jessica successfully identified six MSMEs targeted for mentoring: Geprek Genyol, Geprek Dharmahusada, Pop Ice Family, Seblak Ning Ais, JoyMart Palma, and Lumpia CikWan. One of the MSMEs, Geprek Dharmahusada, wanted to market its products through the GoFood and GrabFood platforms but did not yet understand the procedures. Meanwhile, the other five MSMEs needed to create QRIS to simplify customer payment transactions.
Ezra played a key role in learning the QRIS process and estimating the printing time. He visited BCA and BRI banks to learn about the procedures and requirements, while also assisting MSMEs in uploading documents such as ID cards, photos of their business premises, revenue, and the owner's signature. Ezra ensured the entire process followed bank regulations, both through the app (BCA) and in-person (BRI).
In addition to MSME mentoring, Ezra and his group also held a socialization of healthy business competition and promotion of FEB UNAIR. In this activity, Ezra was the main speaker, while Jessica and Olive supported from the technical and documentation side. The socialization was held in grades 12 K and 12 L SMAK Kolese Santo Yusuf Malang, Jl. Simpang Borobudur No.1 Malang, during Guidance and Counseling hours. Each class got a 45-minute session, where Ezra presented the material in language that was easy for students to understand, complete with an introduction to the FEB UNAIR profile and study opportunities in the Accounting Undergraduate Study Program.
In early August, Ezra returned to visit all MSMEs to hand over printed and laminated QRIS cards and teach them how to check payment receipts through mobile banking. For Geprek Dharmahusada, Ezra also provided additional training on GoFood and GrabFood operations, from receiving orders to checking incoming balances.
The event concluded with a Q&A session and documentation session with the business owners. For Ezra, this experience not only helped the MSMEs—most of whom are older and unfamiliar with digital technology—but also contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 1: No Poverty, through increasing digital market access that helps MSMEs' income.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting online and offline sales.
SDG 4: Quality Education, through education about healthy business competition.
SDG 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goals, through collaboration between MSMEs and digital platforms and financial institutions.
Ezra hopes this program can continue in the future so that more MSMEs in Indonesia can develop and become highly competitive.
