FEB UNAIR student won gold in Porprov East Java 2025 Pencak Silat Women's Team Category

(FEB NEWS) Malang, July 5, 2025 — Universitas Airlangga students have once again achieved a proud achievement in a provincial-level sports event. Nur Aliffia Oktaviana Firdaus, a 2023 Economics student from the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), won first place in the women's team category of pencak silat at the 2025 East Java Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) IX.

This prestigious competition was organized by the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) East Java and took place from June 28 to July 5, 2025, at the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Sport Center in Malang City. A total of 515 athletes from 36 regencies/cities participated in the pencak silat sport, which was divided into two main categories: sparring and artistic. The judging team was brought in directly from the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) East Java , ensuring the quality of the competition was fair and professional.

Nur Aliffia competed as part of the IPSI Surabaya City women's team. Together with her team, she successfully advanced through four stages of competition—from the preliminary round, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final—through a head-to-head competition system. Consistency, hard work, and teamwork paid off, winning the gold medal on the top step of the podium.

"Alhamdulillah, we were able to bring home the gold medal. This is the result of our intensive training, discipline, and teamwork. Hopefully, this achievement will inspire other women to continue to excel, both in academic and non-academic fields," said Nur Aliffia. This achievement also reflects a commitment to sustainable development through the active participation of young people in healthy and character-building sports activities. Moreover, the success of female students in competitive events like this strengthens the spirit of equality and empowerment, and proves that achievements can be achieved without gender boundaries
