UNAIR FEB STUDENTS & KPPU CREATE DIGITALLY LITERATE UMKM: FROM HOME KITCHENS TO ATK STORES

Surabaya, Monday, August 11, 2025, Three Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sidoarjo Regency – Fifi-Kitchen, Arto Moro ATK, and Pangsit Mie Ayam Cak Parto – received a breath of fresh air through mentoring from students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) together with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) Regional Office IV. The “Impact Campus: Caring for MSMEs” program provides intensive training for five weeks, teaching digital skills, business management, and marketing strategies in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. In this program, the student group @aksiumk.sidoarjo consisting of 3 people named Kevin Putra, Ulvina Wilda, and Salsabila Qatrunnada chose the Sidoarjo and Mojokerto areas as community service locations and mentored three local MSMEs. Based on initial mapping, the three MSMEs face similar challenges: limited promotion, minimal use of technology, and disorganized financial records. The owner of Fifi-Kitchen, which operates in the home culinary industry, admitted that she has relied solely on word-of-mouth promotion. Arto Moro ATK, a stationery store in Balongbendo, has yet to maximize online marketing. Meanwhile, Pangsit Mie Ayam Cak Parto struggles with social media management and has not fully utilized digital payment methods. This program aims to equip business owners with practical skills, ranging from digital marketing, the use of business-supporting applications, to effective branding strategies.

The mentoring began with an open discussion to identify the problem. In the second week, the three MSMEs received QRIS socialization and registration, along with simple financial management education. Students guided them through the registration process until QRIS was activated, provided guidance on separating personal and business finances, and recorded daily cash flow. The third week focused on copywriting and digital marketing training. Fifi-Kitchen received an overhaul of its Instagram visual design, Arto Moro ATK activated its Shopee account to expand its market, and Pangsit Mie Ayam Cak Parto launched a new Instagram account with a scheduled posting strategy.
Entering the fourth week, students helped create a Linktree, update its location on Google Maps, and design a more attractive product catalog and menu list. In the fifth week, the three MSMEs received specially designed promotional banners, combining modern design elements with product information. This program brought significant changes. Fifi-Kitchen now has a strong brand identity with a new logo, menu catalog, and professional promotional materials. Arto Moro ATK is able to reach customers outside its region through online sales. Meanwhile, Pangsit Mie Ayam Cak Parto began accepting orders through Instagram and is more easily found on Google Maps.

"I used to just post basic photos on social media. Now I understand how to create captions that attract people and how to direct them to buy," said the owner of Fifi-Kitchen. For Arto Moro ATK, his newfound knowledge of marketplaces has been a significant breakthrough. "Selling through Shopee has been quite helpful. We've reached buyers from out of town who were previously unreachable," he said. The owner of Pangsit Mie Ayam Cak Parto has also seen the benefits of QRIS and digital promotions. "Customers are happy now because they can pay cashlessly, and they say it's easier to find our location on Google Maps," he said. Students act as field facilitators, assisting from problem identification to solution implementation. They teach them how to operate design applications like Canva, manage social media accounts, and create promotional materials. The KPPU Regional Office IV also provides insights into healthy business partnerships and the importance of fair competition.
