Surabaya, Wednesday, July 30, 2025 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) held a briefing for prospective graduates for the August 2025 period on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Fadjar Notonegoro Hall, Kantai 2, FEB UNAIR. This activity was a crucial moment in preparing 97 prospective graduates to enter the professional world with mental toughness, superior character, and strategic insight as graduates of a world-class university.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia, SE., M.Si., Ak., CMA., CA., who was present with the faculty leadership, namely Dr. Wisnu Wibowo (Vice Dean I), Prof. Dr. Nisful Laila (Vice Dean II), Dr. Ahmad Rizky Sridadi (Vice Dean III), and also the Management of FEB UNAIR.
In her remarks, Prof. Dian Agustia expressed her pride in the graduates' successful completion of their studies and emphasized the importance of upholding their alma mater's reputation in the professional world. She also emphasized the importance of upholding the HEBAT (Humble, Excellent, Brave, Agile, and Transcendent) spirit as the foundational character of Airlangga Knights in their work within the community.
On that occasion, also present and gave a warm welcome was the Secretary of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (IKAFE UNAIR), Dr. Zakik, SE., M.Si., representing the Chairman of IKAFE, H. Fandi Akhmad Yani, SE, MM, Regent of Gresik. Dr. Zakik invited all prospective graduates to stay connected and contribute to the alumni community. He emphasized the importance of the strength of the alumni network as strategic social capital in building a career and making real contributions in various sectors. "Great alumni are those who are not only successful, but also care and are attached to their alma mater," he said.
The agenda continued with the handover of alumni data from the faculty, by the Dean of FEB UNAIR to IKAFE as a symbolic form of bond between graduates and the alumni community. Next, Vice Dean I, Dr. Wisnu Wibowo, read the Dean's Decree regarding the best graduates of the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Programs, and followed by the presentation of award certificates to outstanding graduates as a form of appreciation for their academic achievements.
The briefing session by Dr. Dewi Retno Suminar, Dra., M.Si., Psychologist, delivered material entitled "Personal Stoicism for Future Challenges". In her presentation, Dr. Dewi emphasized the importance of developing a stoic mentality, namely a resilient character that is able to control thoughts, remain calm under pressure, and not rely on external validation. She said that in this fast-paced and distraction-filled era, a Stoic personality is the key to survival, excellence, and continued development, especially for Generation Z who will soon enter the workforce.
According to Dr. Dewi, being a Stoic doesn't mean isolating oneself from the environment, but rather cultivating a balance between self-control and social empathy. "Become someone who is not only academically intelligent but also mentally strong. Stoicism forms the foundation for the emergence of grit and an adaptive and resilient entrepreneurial spirit," she said. She also encouraged participants to continue developing positive self-talk, the courage to express opinions, and collective responsibility as part of a work team.
This briefing not only serves as a transition from the academic to the professional world, but also reinforces the superior character values instilled during their studies at FEB UNAIR. This program has a significant impact on producing graduates who are ready to face global challenges, uphold ethics, and are able to elevate Universitas Airlangga reputation to a higher level in various strategic sectors, both nationally and internationally.
With a collaborative spirit and high integrity, prospective graduates are equipped not only with knowledge but also with the mindset and moral values that are essential for facing this dynamic era.
