Developing MSME Marketing, Going Global, Going Digital, and Growth Mindset with PT Pegadaian and the Faculty of Economics and Business

(FEB News) Supporting MSMEs in Surabaya, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) through the Center for Entrepreneurship and Industrial Relations (PKRI) FEB UNAIR chaired by Dr. Tri Siwi Agustina, SE.,M.Si., in collaboration with PT Pegadaian held MSME mentoring for PT Pegadaian Customers (29/08/2022). This mentoring program aims to provide a development platform for PT Pegadaian Customers and student representatives by WEBS Universitas Airlangga regarding the important value of marketing in MSMEs to improve community welfare.

The MSME mentoring program, in the form of a seminar opened with remarks by: 1.) Dr. Ahmad Rizki Sridadi – Vice Dean III of FEB UNAIR; and 2.) Machmoed Noerharijanto – Head of the Non-Pawn Department of PT. Pegadaian Area Surabaya 1, was held to provide insight into how marketing strategies for MSMEs were presented by Dr. Gancar Candra Premananto SE, M.Si. – Head of the Management Department of FEB UNAIR, to support marketing knowledge for MSMEs, especially PT Pegadaian customers in Surabaya. 

 

Some of the topics covered in the MSME Mentoring Program include determining target markets, determining appropriate pricing, and providing insight into the importance of branding in MSME marketing. This program seeks to maximize the potential of MSMEs to increase market share and generate a viable income.

 

In his presentation, Mr. Gancar adopted the motto "Going global, going digital, and having a growth mindset," which means that MSMEs must be able to adapt to the digital world and cultivate a mindset that fosters new strategies and advances economic prosperity. "Do something else, do something more," Mr. Gancar said. This serves as a catalyst for MSMEs to innovate and pursue growth.

 

At the end of the event, Mr. Gancar encouraged students and customers to use domestic products to support the domestic economy. He also advised all MSMEs to enter the digital world. "Make people empathetic by creating engaging stories on social media," he said. This is what adds value to a business and can boost MSME sales in Surabaya.
