One of the UKMF at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, AcSES (Association of Shariah Economic Studies) held the 2018 Sharia Economic Scientific Festival, commonly abbreviated as FALAH, on September 20-22, 2018. This third FALAH carried the main theme "Creating Youth for a Civilized Indonesia" aimed at seeking and optimizing the role of youth as the main drivers in building this nation.
The series of events, which began with presentations by the semifinalists of the national Call for Essay competition on Thursday, September 20, 2018, garnered considerable enthusiasm from students. This was evident in the submissions from 14 Indonesian universities seeking to win this annual event.
On the second day, the semifinalists were taken on a tour of the City of Heroes, where they were introduced to the culture of this metropolitan city. The Heroes Monument, Surabaya's iconic landmark, was also one of their destinations.
The evening continued with an Islamic study entitled "Youth Responding to the Challenges of Today," led by Ustadz Faris Khoirul Anam, LC, MHI, the head of the Darul Faqih Islamic boarding school in Malang. He conveyed that the challenges facing Muslim youth today come from both within themselves and from outside sources. Therefore, Muslim youth in particular must maintain a strong foundation in their life principles and avoid being easily swayed by their environment.
Saturday, September 22, 2018, which was the peak of the 2018 Islamic Economics Scientific Festival, ended with a Business Workshop themed "Young-Creativepreneur In Digital Era" attended by Prof. Dahlan Iskan as the main speaker, receiving extraordinary enthusiasm from students and business practitioners. Mr. Syafril Riza, who appeared as the moderator, also succeeded in keeping the audience enthusiastic so that they could gain useful knowledge from the speakers presented.
The event closed with the awarding of prizes to the winners of the Call for Essay which were directly handed over by Prof. Dr. Dahlan Iskan and Mrs. Sochrul Rohmatul Ajija as the supervisors of AcSES FEB UNAIR.
