UNAIR NEWS – A total of 65 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) participated in a village service program in one of the assisted villages in Jombang. The village service program is a manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service.

This sixth-year village service program was initiated by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Airlangga University. The village service program, held in Jipurapah Village, Brangkal Hamlet, and Kedung Dendeng Hamlet, Palandaan District, Jombang Regency, is part of a series of events to celebrate the FEB's 57th anniversary.
The head of the community service department, Dimas Agil Arianto, an Accounting student from the 2015 intake, hopes that the sixth year of the village service program will improve the quality of life of the surrounding community, including in education, health, the economy, and the environment.
The community service program was held in two hamlets simultaneously: Brangkal and Kedung Dendeng. The 65 students participating in the community service program were selected from hundreds of applicants from four study programs at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Yusril Erlangga, the head of the village service committee, stated that the students occupied two hamlets for a week. Brangkal Hamlet was occupied from August 13-16, and Kedungdendeng Hamlet was occupied from August 16-23, 2018.
During the community service program, students stay in the homes of local residents. Therefore, during the community service, the village service committee is in constant contact with the local community. Therefore, Yusril Erlangga consistently emphasizes responsibility to the committee members under his supervision.
"We hope that the students who go out into the community will not only interact with and help the community, but also that the 65 students will be able to draw on their experiences and address any problems that arise in Jipurapah village," he said.
The 2018 village service committee was seen off by Dr. Rudi Purwono, Vice Dean 1 of FEB UNAIR. During the send-off, he advised the students to wear their blue alma mater jackets with the UNAIR logo on the left side. "So be responsible and look after them until you return," Rudi explained. (*)
