The Scientific Paper Symposium is a series of activities of the XVII National Scientific Meeting/Temilnas FoSSEI (Islamic Economics Study Silaturrahmi Forum) in 2018 which took place at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan. Temilnas FoSSEI has been held annually since 2001 exactly one year after FoSSEI was formed in 2000, this activity includes the Islamic Economics Olympiad; Video Profile; Business Plan and the Scientific Paper Symposium which is a national level event. In 2018, Temilnas raised the theme "Optimizing Socio-Techno Finance for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development" this aims to take advantage of the momentum of the development of Financial Technology in Indonesia which is predicted to be an effective solution in payment, financing and marketing systems for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which are the backbone of the Indonesian economy.

The Scientific Paper Symposium began with the submission of full papers on January 6 to February 20, 2018, followed by a selection process from February 21 to 27, 2018, the selection process resulted in 33 best teams in 3 sub-themes (11 finalists were selected for each sub-theme). In this case, Universitas Airlangga was represented by 3 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business in 1 team, namely Yuliandi Fikri , Development Economics 2015 as Team Leader, with 2 members Irma Yanti and Fready Wijaya , both from the Development Economics study program 2017. The Unair team was included in the Second Sub-theme, namely Trade. Presentations, discussions with the jury and continued with the scientific paper Symposium were held on March 26-28, 2018 and ended with the announcement of the winners at the Gala Dinner on March 28, 2018 which took place at the Hajj Dormitory Ambarkasi Medan, North Sumatra. Praise be to God, the Unair team received the award for Best Presentation from Commission 2. This was an extraordinary learning experience and experience when meeting with university friends from almost all over Indonesia.
