SURYA.co.id | SURABAYA - Having a family member needs special expenses for health, inspires the best graduates of the S1 Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga , Afanin Husna in completing their studies.
"My father is stroke and my younger brother with special needs. So at home only my mother is working, while the expenditure is fixed and increased for the medical expenses of my father and sister. That is what inspired me," said the winner of the cumulative achievement index (GPA) to be proud of 3,88.
He also looked for literature related to health economics and found a topic that suited what was happening in my family.
Even though it was not easy, he decided to take a multidisciplinary thesis topic. Namely Analysis of Determinants of Catastrophic Health Expenditure (CHE) in Indonesia.
"Depending on health economics, Che is a condition in which health expenditure exceeds the threshold of the total household expenditure," he said.
He added that households with this condition often have to go into debt, sell assets, and many other things.
"Arranging this thesis is full of struggle because the topic of multidisciplinary that is rarely discussed, so I have to be diligent in looking for literature," said the student from Surabaya.
He also started by reading the thesis of his senior brother. Even though there is very little data, he decided to continue with this topic, especially since the topic of health economics is also booming, especially since there is a pandemic like this.
"I also discuss with my friends at the Faculty of Public Health on the topic. For data there are also difficulties. I examine at the household level, so I have to use micro data whose processing is more complicated than macro data," he explained.
Afanin's hard work finally paid off, he even continued his thesis topic as a thesis in the fast track program he took.
