The two-day international conference brought together academics, researchers, practitioners, and students from various countries to discuss the role of ethics and technology in driving sustainable social impact.
The 9th ICEB 2025 was closed by Dr. Wisnu Wibowo , SE, M.Sc., as Vice Dean I of FEB UNAIR. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the spirit of global collaboration that existed throughout the conference. "We are proud to host a conference that not only produces academic insights, but also encourages real impact through collaboration across disciplines and countries. Hopefully, this will be a momentum to strengthen the culture of ethics, innovation, and global solidarity," said Dr. Wisnu, in his closing remarks.
The second day featured a series of activities, including a Ph.D. Colloquium, Parallel Presentations, and International Community Service. In the doctoral colloquium, doctoral students from various institutions presented their research and received input from international academics. Meanwhile, the parallel sessions provided a productive discussion space for presenting various studies on management, accounting, macroeconomics, sustainability, and Islamic finance.
One of the key moments at the closing of the 9th ICEB 2025 was the implementation of an international community service targeting local MSMEs in Surabaya. Through collaboration between conference participants and the FEB UNAIR Academic Community, this activity provided direct assistance to micro-entrepreneurs regarding financial planning and sustainable marketing strategies. This step demonstrated how academic results can be directly applied in a social context, as a concrete contribution to society.
The conference closed with the announcement of the winners of the Best Paper Awards, which consisted of three selected works:
1. Clawback Policy Performance and Corporate Reporting Outcomes – Baban Eulaiwi (Curtin University, Australia)
2. Good Corporate Governance and Sustainability Reporting Quality in Indonesia: Does Family Matter? – Arumega Zarefar, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia, and Wiwiek Dianawati (University of Riau & FEB UNAIR)
3. From Redistribution to Orchestration: A Conceptual Model for the Women's Empowerment Zakat Service Platform – a collaboration between the Bandung Institute of Technology and the Tokyo Institute of Technology (presented online)
Two of these will be recommended for publication in the reputable international journal Asian Journal of Accounting Research (Scopus Q2) and one article in the Journal of Islamic Economics and Business/JEBIS (SINTA 1). In addition, nine other scientific papers will be nominated for publication in nationally accredited journals.
The entire series of activities at the 9th ICEB 2025 reflects FEB UNAIR's commitment to providing quality, inclusive, and impactful higher education. This conference is part of the institution's concrete efforts to support sustainable development goals, particularly in strengthening international networks, improving community economic literacy, and developing the capacity of micro-entrepreneurs.
With the successful implementation of the 9th ICEB 2025, FEB UNAIR affirmed its role as a center of excellence in the development of economics and business, oriented not only toward academics but also toward global social contributions. This conference is expected to inspire other sustainability efforts in the future, both through research collaborations and concrete community actions.
