Dissertation - Closed Defense

The Closed Dissertation Examination (Stage I Examination) is designed to assess the dissertation writing process based on the scientific writing guidelines set out in the Dissertation Writing Guidebook. This process continues from the dissertation proposal design by adding several stages, namely: data collection and processing, data analysis and discussion, and conclusions and research contributions. The objectives of this course are: (1) to determine the research topic, issue, and gap, the state of the art and novelty of the research, the problem formulation, research objectives and scope, and research benefits; (2) to evaluate the accuracy, relevance, and contribution of the research results to the field of Islamic Economics; (3) to provide space for constructive feedback that students can use to refine their dissertation before the open defense. It also assesses: (a) the relevance of the research results to the development of Islamic Economics; (b) the contribution of the research results to the development of Islamic Economics; (c) conceptual findings, methods, novelty, and originality of the research; (d) the student's analytical ability and scientific reasoning; (e) breadth of scholarly insight; and (f) the ability to respond to scientific criticism
