Contemporary Fiqh Development (*)

This course is designed to equip students with the study of the formulation (istinbath) and products of contemporary Islamic law, comparing and weighing such istinbath and legal products, particularly in the fields of economics and finance, whether issued by religious institutions or individual jurists (fuqaha). The final goal of this course is for students to be able to analyze and compare the views of contemporary scholars on current economic legal issues. The subjects of study include the opinions of recognized (mu'tabar) contemporary scholars and various contemporary fatwas from organizations around the world.
