Since the public cooperatives for women have been operating for more than five years, it is very important to evaluate their performance. This study is intended to investigate the issues of sustainability within the public cooperatives for women in East Java using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Dynamic Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) method for the period of 2012–2014. The results revealed that most of the public cooperatives for women in East Java were still not efficient according to the output oriented VRS model. However, based on the MPI results, the cooperatives showed an increase in their productivity from 2012 to 2014 due to the influence of technological advancement rather than a change in efficiency.
