In the last two decades, South Korea has carried out massification in the field of education, including higher education. Universities under the Ministry of Education of the South Korean Government actively promote their institutions to international students to increase competitiveness and exchange and cooperation between countries, one of which is with Indonesia.

As one of the leading universities in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga also continues to strive to increase the potential and insight of students by collaborating with other universities abroad and supporting students in student exchange programs. One of these efforts is proven by the student exchange program to Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), South Korea.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is located in the historical city of Jeonju, South Korea. As the flagship national university for Jeollabuk-do Province, JBNU was founded in 1947 by provincial funds within the framework of South Korea's national university system. Today, JBNU has grown into 17 faculties (including the Faculty of Public Policy and the Jimmy Carter School of International Studies) and 14 graduate schools (one general, nine specialized, and four professional schools).

JBNU's Fall Semester Exchange Program 2022 is an exchange program for international students from universities that have collaborated with JBNU, one of which is Airlangga University, where students can learn Korean language and culture as well as courses related to their field of study. This student exchange program is held offline for approximately 6 months from September 2022 to February 2023 with international students from all over the world. Students who have been selected will receive scholarships in the form of tuition fees and accommodation during their studies. For this semester, students who pass the selection and can join the program from Universitas Airlangga consist of 6 students. One of them is a 2019 Islamic Economics student named Filzah Thahirah Amanina.

This activity also helps Airlangga University in achieving SDGs number 4, namely Quality Education because this activity aims to develop potential and broaden students' horizons as well as a technology transfer event according to their study program. By participating in a student exchange program, students can meet other students and academics from various countries in the world.
