Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of each independent variable transformational leadership style and work environment on teacher performance with motivation as the intervening variable. The data in the study were collected by using observation methods based on conditions in the field and interviews with respondents. The analytical tool used in this research is Partial Least Square analysis using SmartPLS. The results of the study show that transformational leadership style has a significant positive effect on performance with a T-statistics value of 2,342, a transformational leadership style significantly positive effect on motivation with a T-statistics value of 2,508, work environment has no significant effect on performance with a T-statistics value of 0,012, work environment significantly influences motivation with a T-statistics value of 6,033, motivation does not significantly affect performance with a T-statistics value of 1,474. Recommendations from the research are; (i) Transformational leadership style is important to improve the motivation and performance of teachers at SMAK St. Louis 1 Surabaya, (ii) Variables of work environment and motivation have no effect on teacher performance at SMAK St. Louis 1 Surabaya, (iii) A comfortable and supportive environment work atmosphere can increase work motivation, (iv) Further develop the model carried out by researchers by adding other variables that are still closely related, for example organizational culture variables, competencies, or with other indicators, (v) As far as possible future researchers should conduct a questionnaire for PKG (Teacher Performance Assessment) so that later a better instrument will be obtained.
