Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the performance appraisal has an effect on job satisfaction and employee morale at PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) in Bondowoso and Banyuwangi. Assessment of work performance in this study includes: the assessment method used, the factors that are used as the basis for the assessment and the official authorized to conduct the assessment. The sample of this study consisted of 40 employees of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) who served in the Bondowoso and Banyuwangi Post Offices starting from class IIa. To measure the effect of job performance appraisal on job satisfaction and employee morale, Path Analysis is used with a significance level of (α) 5%. The results showed that at the Bondowoso Post Office the assessment method did not significantly affect job satisfaction, the assessment factor did not significantly affect job satisfaction and the appraisal officer also did not significantly affect job satisfaction. Job satisfaction itself has a very significant effect on employee morale. Likewise, the assessment of work performance which consists of assessment methods, assessment factors and appraisers partially does not affect the morale of Bondowoso Post Office employees. At the Banyuwangi Post Office, the assessment method and appraiser officials partially have no significant effect on job satisfaction, while the assessment factor has a significant effect on job satisfaction. As in the Bondowoso Post Office, job satisfaction also has a very significant effect on employee morale at the Banyuwangi Post Office. In the analysis of the assessment of work performance on morale, it is proven that none of the methods of assessment, assessment factors and appraisers have a significant effect on employee morale at the Banyuwangi Post Office. This means that in this study there are other variables besides the assessment of work performance that affect job satisfaction and employee morale at PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) Bondowoso and Banyuwangi.
