Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of independent variables, namely the level of sales growth, asset structure, company size, and operating leverage level, both collectively and individually, on the financial structure of Go-Public food and beverage companies on the Surabaya Stock Exchange. The method used in data collection is by using purposive sampling or judgment sampling which the selection is done with certain criteria. Data were obtained from 14 food and beverage companies for 5 (five) years from 1994 to 1998. To measure the effect of the independent variables together on the financial structure, the F-test was used with a significance level (alpha) of 5%. Meanwhile, to measure the effect of individual independent variables on the financial structure, a t-test with a significance level (alpha) of 5% was used. The results of the study show that together there is no significant effect on the company's financial structure. Meanwhile, individually, only company size has a significant influence on the company's financial structure. While the other 3 (three) variables, namely: sales growth rate, asset structure and operating leverage level have no significant effect on the company's financial structure.
