The Generous Head of IKA UA Dies

PIH UNAIR - Universitas Airlangga is grieving again. This time, UNAIR lost its best son on Thursday night 30 April 2020. He is Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni who breathed his last at 17.50 in the ICU Room of Darmo Hospital Surabaya.

The figure who is also currently serving as General Chairperson of PP IKA UA for the 2017-2021 period is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics class of 1972. He also served as Chair of IKAFE UA for the period 2007-2012 and Chair I of PP IKA UA 2012-2017.

Quoting the statement he made in his book Tracing Alumni UNAIR, Haryanto Basoeni is a very simple figure. He never talked about the success in building his business. He also emphasized that what he had done was not comparable to many other business actors. According to him, in running a business he only has real, honest, and various capital to other people in need.

The man who was born in Gresik, December 5, 1952 is also one of the alumni of UNAIR who initiated and became one of the main donors of the establishment of the Ulul Azmi Mosque on Campus C UNAIR. Quoting a statement at the launch of the establishment of the Ulul Azmi Mosque, Campus C UNAIR, he emphasized that the real assets owned were assets used for charity in the way of Allah SWT.

His work was really felt for UNAIR, especially in organizing and compacting the roles of UNAIR alumni from various regions in Indonesia. One of them is the presence of the Ulul Azmi Mosque UNAIR Campus C which is fully established thanks to the strong support of UNAIR alumni.

Regarding his extraordinary role in life, UNAIR Chancellor Prof. Nasih on a different occasion said that the figure of Haryanto Basoeni had a strong contribution and commitment to work with UNAIR officials in bringing UNAIR on par with UI ITB UGM. Especially in the field of alumni.
