Accounting Knowing Better is a work program of the Accounting Student Association Universitas Airlangga in the form of a seminar whose aim is to introduce new students to learn more about the accounting major.
Registration opened at 8:30 a.m. The enthusiasm of the new students for the AKB event was evident, with groups lining up in front of the Fadjar Hall to register and get snacks.
After registration, the event began with a presentation by our lecturer, Ms. Niluh Putu Dian Rosalina Handayani Narsa, or familiarly known as Ms. Oca. On this occasion, Ms. Oca provided information on the academic facilities available at Universitas Airlangga Accounting Department and explained the universal nature of accounting. Her engaging presentation, accompanied by a few jokes, kept the audience glued to the stage in Fadjar Hall.
After Mrs. Oca finished delivering the material, it was Mr. Anak Agung Gede Taman's turn, or usually called Mr. Agung, to show his skills in delivering the material. On this occasion, Mr. Agung explained the career prospects of accountants in Public Accounting Firms and explained the important role of accountants in solving every problem that exists in the company. This time the participants were calmer and tended to be serious in delivering the material because he is a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young's Assurance Services, from his position alone it shows that he is very senior. His demeanor that really shows his experience and professionalism made all participants, including the committee, calmer in paying attention to what he said.
After Mr. Agung finished delivering the material, it was Mr. Firdaus' turn to show off in front of the stage to deliver the final material at AKB 2018. Mr. Firdaus Aditya Rizqi, usually called Mr. Firdaus, is a Banking Supervisor of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) who is relatively young, so that in delivering the material he was able to be more relaxed than the two previous speakers. On this occasion, he provided information about the job prospects of accountants in the government, explained the important role of accountants in the government, and provided information about predictions for the economy in the future which will later involve the role of an accountant. The participants were also carried away by the atmosphere brought by him, so that there were often moments where the entire contents of the Fadjar Hall, including the committee inside, laughed because of the jokes made by him.
After the three speakers finished their presentations, a question-and-answer session was opened for all three speakers. The enthusiasm of the participants was so high that the moderator and MC, who were leading the Q&A session, seemed confused about who should ask first. Everyone who asked a question during this session received a souvenir from the committee, and speakers often gave away souvenirs they had prepared themselves.
After the question and answer session was over, the moderator gave a conclusion regarding what had been conveyed by the three speakers. The AKB 2018 series of events closed with the awarding of plaques to the three speakers as a token of gratitude from the committee for their willingness to take the time to attend and fill the AKB 2018 event. Participants seemed happy because the 7 thousand rupiah they paid at the beginning felt very useful for their presence at AKB 2018 which was supported by great speakers and was able to increase their insight and motivate them to navigate their new life on campus, in the S-1 Accounting study program Universitas Airlangga.
