MUSLIMAH DIARY 2023

Muslimah Diary is Mosaic's annual Muslim-friendly event, a competition specifically for Muslim women, posted on Instagram. It features two sub-competitions: a podcast competition and a competition for creating engaging Instagram feed content. This program aims to enhance Muslim women's creativity and foster digital da'wah (Islamic outreach) within the community. The first part of the Muslimah Diary will take place from April 8–21, 2023.

The target audience for this Muslimah Diary activity is Muslim women throughout Indonesia, especially students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga. Participants will create their Instagram feeds and video podcasts locally and submit them via Instagram by tagging the account @kemuslimahanmosaic. Registration is available through the provided registration link.

This competition successfully attracted 15 registered participants (8 Instagram feed participants and 7 video podcast participants). Judging was carried out by voting with the assessment aspects being 40% creativity, 30% content suitability to the theme, 30% moral message. There were two winners from each sub-category of the competition, the winners were announced via a post on the Instagram account @kemuslimahanmosaic and received a cash reward from the committee in the form of Rp75,000 each.

Through this Muslimah Diary initiative, Mosaic's Muslim Affairs Division aims to highlight the importance of women's creativity and the ability to spread Islamic teachings to the general public. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 5, "Gender Equality.".

SDG No. 5 related to this activity is as follows:

  1. The Power of Women's Voices: A crucial aspect of gender equality is empowering women's voices. Instagram is a tool that can be used to empower women, including Muslim women, when it comes to speaking out on religious, social, and other issues.
  2. Encouraging Diversity of Opinions: Gender equality also includes encouraging diversity of opinions. Muslim women have unique perspectives, experiences, and knowledge that they can share through platforms like podcast content or Instagram feeds. This can help foster diversity of views within society.
  3. Women's Empowerment: Gender equality also involves empowering women to reach their full potential. Allowing Muslim women to express their creativity through da'wah (Islamic outreach) on Instagram is one way to support women's empowerment in the digital realm.
