The Academic Insight Series Batch #1 activity, themed "Critical Strategies and Novelty Evaluation in Research," is an academic forum initiated by the Master of Economics Student Association Universitas Airlangga (HIMA MIE UNAIR). This activity aims to enrich the insights of academics, especially undergraduate, master's, and postgraduate students, regarding the importance of critical approaches and novelty assessment in the scientific research process.

Presenting Ms. Rodame Monitorir Napitupulu, a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, as the main speaker, this discussion will thoroughly explore strategies in identifying and evaluating novelty in relevant and impactful scientific research. This activity will be guided by Karolinda Kidi Mukin, a Master of Economics student at UNAIR, who will ensure the discussion runs interactively and full of meaning.
The activity will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 with a discussion forum and interactive delivery of material from participants for approximately 60 minutes. The series of events includes an opening and introduction of the speaker by the moderator, the speaker's presentation on the importance of novelty followed by a discussion, sharing and question and answer session.

The success of this activity can be measured through participants expected to be able to understand how to compile the state of the art in literature studies, distinguish between originality and novelty, and avoid the trap of repetitive research. More than just sharing knowledge, this activity is also part of HIMA MIE UNAIR's contribution in supporting the achievement of SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing an open and inclusive academic discussion space, and it is hoped that researchers can find novelty for research that will be developed for research plans to be published.
