Entering college is a new chapter in one's educational journey. Young people, previously known as pupils, transform into students, marking the beginning of their university careers. The enormity of their dreams and aspirations, supported by their potential, interests, and talents, sometimes raises doubts about determining their future direction. Students are often faced with the dilemma of choosing to focus on academics, organizations, or trying to balance both. Furthermore, students who are still unfamiliar with organizations sometimes feel hesitant to join and are afraid of various unknowns.
Moving on from these issues, the Student Resource Development Bureau of BEM FEB UNAIR held an agenda or work program "SOBEM" to facilitate new students of the class of 2024 to intern at BEM FEB UNAIR for three months. This program is intended for new students to learn about organizations and gain a deeper understanding of the structure of each bureau and department within BEM FEB UNAIR. It also provides them with the opportunity to directly engage and contribute to each work program so they can develop and progress into individuals who are ready to face various challenges and possess leadership qualities. Through this work program, new students of the class of 2024 are expected to be ready to contribute and become leaders through BEM FEB UNAIR in 2025.
The existence of the BEM Friend (SOBEM) work program also contributes to realizing SDGs 4, namely quality education by providing access to quality education for new students and encouraging equality and inclusivity in education. Through the SOBEM program, new students will be trained to interact directly with various parties, such as other FEB UNAIR students, the academic community, and the wider community. This aims to develop their public speaking and soft skills. In addition, this program will also equip students with effective time management and problem-solving skills to complete assignments and face various obstacles in their work. Thus, SOBEM is expected to produce young leaders of quality and character for FEB UNAIR and the wider community.
