In this global era, besides technology, English is increasingly inseparable from us. English has become a universal language worldwide, enabling people from different countries, languages, and cultures to communicate. We now encounter English almost daily, whether it's used on social media, in class, or even in everyday conversation. English also plays a crucial role in the business and employment world, and is one of the main requirements for obtaining scholarships, especially for studying abroad.
To gain official recognition of their English proficiency, anyone can take an official English language exam such as the TOEIC, TOEFL, or IELTS. Currently, the most widely used are the TOEFL and IELTS. Certificates from these two tests can be used to apply for scholarships and jobs at various institutions, especially highly sought-after multinational institutions. In fact, having a TOEFL or IELTS certificate with a good score seems to be a requirement these days.
Therefore, BEM FEB UNAIR presents E-Dev, or English Development, which is a forum for students at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga to develop their English, especially in preparing for the TOEFL. In collaboration with the TEXAS English Course and Training Center, E-Dev was successfully held on April 26 and 27, 2019.
On the first day of E-Dev on April 26, 2019, held at the Fadjar Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), students received TOEFL training from trusted and experienced trainers from the TEXAS English Course and Training Center. Participants were given guidance, instruction, and tips and tricks for completing TOEFL exams, covering listening, grammar and structure, and reading.
On the second day of E-Dev, held at the Soepoyo Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNAIR the following day (April 27, 2019), FEB students, armed with the knowledge gained from the previous day's training, took the TOEFL Prediction test, which has the exact same mechanics, question types, and weighting as the TOEFL iTP. Participants will receive their test results in the form of a nationally valid TOEFL Prediction certificate.
By holding E-Dev at FEB UNAIR, it is hoped that it can increase interest and knowledge regarding the importance of TOEFL, as well as help FEB UNAIR students in maximizing their English language potential and achieving good TOEFL scores.
