English Course is one of the work programs of the Student Cooperation and Welfare Division (Jakesma) of the Islamic Economics Student Association (HIMA) of Airlangga University. This program is designed as an English learning platform for all Universitas Airlangga . The main objective of this activity is to improve the English skills of participants and help them achieve the minimum score that has been set. The implementation of the English Course is carried out in two waves in one management period in collaboration with the Center for Language and Multiculturalism Universitas Airlangga (PUSBAMULYA UNAIR). The first English Course will be held on April 30, 2025 - May 9, 2025, while the second wave of the English Course will be held on November 10 - 17, 2025.
The English Course consists of two sub-events, namely training and tests. In each wave of the English Course, 3 training sessions are held (Listening, Structure, Reading, Review All Lessons) and 1 test, namely the final test as the closing of this English Course event. All English Course activities will be carried out via zoom meeting (online). This activity can be attended by all Universitas Airlangga from various faculties.
Prior to the training, the Jakesma Division opened participant registration through a form accompanied by a payment system. Registration closed no later than 10 days before the activity began. To participate in the English Course, participants are required to pay a contribution of Rp125,000.00 per person. This fee covers all training and exam facilities, including learning materials and discussion of practice questions that will be provided by speakers from PUSBAMULYA UNAIR.
This program is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4, namely Quality Education. By providing access to structured and affordable English training, the English Course is expected to make a real contribution to improving student competency, especially in English language proficiency. In addition, this program also plays a role in supporting the achievement of a higher TOEFL score, namely above 450, as one of the graduation requirements or other administrative requirements.
