Climate change was a key topic at the 2022 G20 Summit. With the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger," Indonesia's position as the 2022 G20 Presidency is crucial for collectively promoting climate change mitigation. Indonesia is implementing various policies to achieve its emissions reduction targets and achieve net zero emissions (carbon neutrality) by 2060 or earlier. In the energy sector, these policies include renewable electricity production, biofuel use, increased gas use, and the use of clean coal technology.

In order to provide support for the Government Program to realize Net Zero Emission, PT Bukit Asam held the 2022 Bukit Asam Innovation Award (BAIA) Event with the theme Decarbonization Competition (“2022 BAIA DC Event”). This event emerged as a form of seriousness of PT Bukit Asam Tbk in supporting innovations created by the nation's children to participate in realizing net zero emissions by 2060, including through Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) technology, as well as Decarbonization in the coal mining industry. This event is expected to motivate Indonesian researchers and innovators to continue innovating in the development of CCUS and Decarbonization technology. The existence of CCUS and decarbonization technology developed domestically is expected to reduce the cost of carbon emission mitigation in the country.

The GELATAH team from Universitas Airlanggasuccessfully advanced to the presentation stage in the Carbon Reduction category, which will be held offline in South Jakarta on November 2-4, 2022. We hope this will bring pride and victory to the Faculty of Economics and Business and Universitas Airlangga. The delegates who will represent them include Abdul Rohman from the Accounting Bachelor's Degree, Vita Amalia Hidayati from the Accounting Bachelor's Degree, and Kariza Makanty from the Chemistry Bachelor's Degree.
