Accounting Knowing Better (AKB) is a seminar designed and intended for new students of the Accounting study program at Universitas Airlangga to introduce them to the world of accounting. Through this AKB seminar, new students are expected to get to know the Accounting study program at Universitas Airlangga and understand various aspects during their studies and future career prospects so that new students can make early plans for future career preparation and how to maintain it. Therefore, we created a draft idea for this activity with the theme "Leading the Change: How Accountants Shape the Future". With this theme, we hope this seminar can provide new knowledge for new Accounting students 2025 regarding the role of Accounting in the present and future while achieving the overall goals of this AKB.
This year's AKB carries the theme, "Leading the Change: How Accountants Shape the Future" which aims to encourage new students to see accounting not only as a scientific discipline, but as a real force of transformation in society. In the midst of a world that continues to change from technological disruption, global crises, to demands for transparency and sustainability, accounting continues to play a vital role in the decision-making process and determining policy direction in various sectors. However, the role of accountants is no longer limited to recording transactions or preparing financial reports. Accountants of today and the future are change leaders, strategic directors, guardians of integrity, and creators of value in the economic and governmental systems. This theme was chosen to raise awareness that accounting is a strategic major that produces analytical, integrity-driven, and adaptive leaders, not a major that is left behind or vulnerable to being replaced by technology (automation).
Ultimately, AKB is expected to be not only a learning platform, but also a starting point for new students in shaping their identity as part of the AKS1 family that is not only ready to face change but also capable of bringing about that change itself. Through this activity, new Accounting students of 2025 are expected to understand accounting comprehensively and have a clear picture of its prospects and strategic role in the future, as well as contribute to implementing the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) program point 8 concerning Decent Work and Economic Growth in Indonesia in a sustainable manner.
