Abstract

Fast business environment change requires human resource role in competitive advantage. Semen Gresik Hospital intended to be Hospital grade C+ by adding service as Trauma Center. In response to the plan, Semen Gresik Hospital performs change in the form of improving facilities and human resource according to Trauma Center requirement. Units influenced by the change are Emergency Room (IGD), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Central Surgery Installation (IBS), Radiology, and Laboratory. In this research, it was identified that the communication strategy in Semen Gresik Hospital was matching with change type, change stage and leadership style. Communication strategy performed was underscore and explore. The change occurred was incremental change and resides in the launching stage. Leadership style was a combination of logical style, commanding style and coaching. Change process had positive response from all employees. Change process is still occurring and it needs continuing monitoring and evaluation to identify change process development hence it will always develop toward better direction. Change process made hospital to be able to have competitive advantage.
