Abstract
The young population is a human resource that has better potential than the older generation. The number of young people has increased to reach 70 million in 2035. This large number is expected to be optimally absorbed into the labor market. This study aims to examine and analyze socio-demographic, socioeconomic, and regional characteristics that affect an individual's chances of becoming a young population out of work, school, or training (Not in Employment, Education, or Training/NEET). This study uses data from the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in February 2018. The results from descriptive data show that young people who have the opportunity to become NEET are those who are female, married, have low education, have a disability, live with a head of household who do not work, live in rural areas, and reside on the island of Java with the respective proportions of 29.7 percent, 34,9 percent, 30,3 percent. 49,4 percent, 23,5 percent, 21,5 percent, and 24,3 percent. Binary logistic regression analysis shows that individual characteristics viewed from socio-demographic, socio-economic, and regional shows that each of these characters has a significant effect on the individual's chances of becoming a NEET.
