Abstract

Based on a survey conducted by Gallup in 2016 shows that the general public views the sales profession as a profession with a low level of honesty and ethics, where these results have been consistent for the last five consecutive years. This indicates that there is a negative stereotype in the profession of sales employees, despite the fact that sales employees are the spearhead in increasing company revenue. In addition, there are still few studies that examine employee deviant behavior in terms of work-family conflict. This study wanted to investigate the effect of work-family conflict on workplace deviant behavior and the role of job stress and the meaningfulness of work on the relationship between these two variables. The study was conducted on sales employees from various companies in Indonesia with a total sample of 182 respondents. Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis technique was used to process research data. The results show that all direct effects in this study are rejected except for the effect of work-family conflict on job stress. While the moderating effect of meaningfulness of work proved significant on all relationships between variables hypothesized in this study.
