2018 Scientific Writing Festival (GALAKSI)

GALAXY (Scientific Writing Gebyar) 2018 STUDENT SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES UNIT (UKIM) STATE UNIVERSITY SURABAYA

GALAKSI is an annual activity of UKIM (Student Scientific Activity Unit) Surabaya State University. GALAKSI as a means of developing creative, innovative, and applicable ideas from the nation's children as well as training students in criticizing and analyzing problems that occur in Indonesia on the basis of rational thought and science. Program GALAKSI consists of LKTI for students throughout Indonesia, National Essay Competition for high school students/equivalent throughout Indonesia, and National Literacy Talkshow.

This year GALAKSI has a major theme of activity, namely "The Role of Literacy as a Relay of National Civilization". The LKTI theme is The Role of Youth in National Development Through Literacy Towards Golden Indonesia 2045, and the theme for the National Essay Competition is Variety of Creations and Innovations Through Literacy Culture in Realizing a Generation of Global Competitiveness. And for the closing event, the National Literacy Talkshow with the theme "The Role of Literacy for Youth in Facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0".

The National Scientific Writing Competition was participated by students from all universities in Indonesia. The first stage of the LKTI selection was by submitting abstracts for the 30 best works, and the second stage by sending Full Papers to take the 15 best works as finalists of the LKTI GALAKSI and following the next stage, namely the presentation of papers at the State University of Surabaya on 27 October 2018.

The Paper Presentation was held at the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Surabaya on 27 October 2018 which was attended by 15 Finalists from UNESA, ITS, UB, UM, PPNS, PENS, UGM, UNAIR, UTM, and UBM. From UNAIR sent 2 finalist teams from the Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR and the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR. The delegates from FEB UNAIR were Arintis Wahyu Susanti (2015 Accounting), Retno Wulan Dari (2015 Management), and Zahro Ubaydilla (Islamic Economics 2017).

At the end of the National Literacy Talkshow, the winners of the GALAKSI agenda paper competition were announced as 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 1st place winner, 2nd runner up, 3rd place winner, The Best Paper, and The Best Presentation. UNAIR managed to get 3rd place by the delegation team from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
